A brother - a pillar
My mom used to repeat an old saying: If you have cows, you will have wealth; if you have a brother, you can rely. I am in my 30s; my brother, who is 18 months younger than me, turned 30 on the 6th of this month. Every day of my conscious life, I have felt the cushion so much. The feeling of having someone to watch my back is something one needs to experience to understand.
I have been sorted; I have had the clarity, whatever; I have been a mess. We grew up hard, fun, but connected. I was good at having patience, planning long; he was always great at having an immediate solution. Biting the bullet. Together, we are a combo people love, people envy. Maybe we are the same soul, living in two bodies. In Hindu legends, Vishnu and Sheshnag would be reborn as siblings in every life. I don't believe in god, nor in rebirth, but I like fantasizing about having this life and people around me forever. I won't mind if this is a loop, that I have to come back again and again - I don't need moksha. I am already in the best cycle.
Back to my brother. The earliest memory I have of myself is returning from school - after getting admitted into it. I was 4 years old. I remember holding my maternal uncle (Bari)'s hand and jumping with joy. I remember Numal da's mom, or someone in their house, asking, and He mentioned he got me admitted to the school. It is a very faint memory; I don't even know if I have made it up. I have memories of Binod when I was probably 5/6 years old. We were playing in our front yard. And he had an accident; he fractured his big toe when he jumped from a paddy stack. We have played so much there.
I have so many stories of him; I want to record them here. How he has made me feel and how he has taught me to live. I will use the tag brother; you can potentially read all by filtering by the tag.
Lots of love 🤗
